A Brief Overview of Telkom University
Telkom University is a private university located in Bandung. It is recognized as one of the best and leading private higher education institutions in Indonesia, based on several international recognitions that Telkom University has achieved. The rapid growth of ICT (Information and Communication Technology), combined with the diversity of Indonesian culture, has led Telkom University to focus on education and research based on ICT in the fields of engineering, business, and creative industries.
Telkom University was established on August 14, 2013, as a result of the merger of four higher education institutions owned by PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk, one of the largest telecommunications companies owned by the Government of Indonesia. The grand launching of Telkom University took place on August 31, 2013, by the Minister of Education and Culture – Professor Mohammad Nuh, the CEO of Telkom Group – Dr. Arief Yahya, and the Chairman of the Telkom Foundation – Johni Girsang, M.Sc. One of the educational visions of Telkom University is “Creating the Future,” which reflects the university’s commitment to inspire, prepare, and guide the future generation of Indonesia to address various global challenges. It is hoped that Telkom University can create positive change and contributions to society, the nation, and the world.
In the 13 years since its establishment, Telkom University has transformed into a world-class university consisting of 7 faculties (schools) and 31 programs (majors) for undergraduate and postgraduate studies. With approximately 3 campuses in Bandung, Jakarta, and Surabaya, it continues to grow. These branch campuses are part of the Telkom University National Campus (TUNC), which is a concept for the national development of Telkom University by establishing several branches or new universities that adopt the brand and standards of Telkom University in various regions.
The number of students at Telkom University has also been rapidly increasing; in 2024, the student population reached over 78,000, including international students from 28 countries such as East Timor, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, Cambodia, Vietnam, the Netherlands, Germany, Croatia, Jordan, Sudan, and others. Telkom University also offers educational services in the form of international classes with a learning system that meets international standards. The university has approximately 32 research groups (research centers) and 120 laboratories. An Innovation Center, namely Bandung Techno Park (BTP), is also actively involved in the development and support of start-up companies, business incubation, and the provision of technology solutions in the field of ICT. Since December 2016, Telkom University has been accredited as “Excellent” based on SK no 407/SK/BAN-PT/AK-ISK/PT/V/2021.

The Rectorate Building, commonly known as the Bangkit Building, is named after an outer island of Indonesia called Bongkit or Bangkit. This island is directly adjacent to the Philippines and is located in the Sulawesi Indonesia.

K Auditorium Building or Damar Building
Building K or Damar Building is an auditorium building that functions to hold meetings, visits, campus events and others. The name Damar itself is taken from one of them, namely Damar Island, which is large and located in the Thousand Islands.

Faculty of Creative Industries or Sebatik Building
The Sebatik Building is a building of the Faculty of Creative Industries located next to the lake of Telkom University. The name sebatik is taken from one of the islands in Indonesia which is on the border of Indonesia and Malaysia.

FEB Building – C or Miossu Building
The Miossu Telkom University building is taken from the name of an uninhabited island located in the outermost part of West Papua Province. The island is famous for its exotic and stunning scenery. Currently, the Miossu Building is used as a lecture building for the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB).

FEB Building – D or Maratua Building
The Maratua Telkom University Building has 5 floors with a total area of 1,321.92 square meters. This building functions as a public lecture and administration building for the Faculty of Business Economics of Telkom University. Formerly this building was named FEB-D Building and is located on the main side of Telkom University.

FEB Dean’s Building or Manterawu Building
In the Manterawu Building, there are various rooms that are used as administrative offices of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Telkom University and there is a Telkom University Library or commonly known as the Open Library.
