Which Intranet and Internet Difference is More Important?

What exactly is the difference between intranet and internet? To what extent is it important for an agency to provide both networks?

Not many understand the difference between intranet and internet. Though both have many differences and hence have different roles and functions.

The difference between intranet and internet lies mainly in the parties who can access. As the word is used, intranets have a smaller and limited coverage space. While the internet can be accessed freely by anyone.

Many people assume that the internet is more relevant to use in digital and modern times like now. But actually, in certain situations precisely limited access as found in intranets is also necessary.

This is because with limited access, internal communication established in the intranet can be more confidential.

What Exactly is the Difference Between Intranet and Internet

As explained earlier, the difference between intranet and internet lies mainly in the scope of access.

Intranet does not use the internet network in its work system. While the internet can use wireless network systems (wireless), optical and so on.

So to run an intranet system you can only use a LAN or WAN system. Only devices connected to a LAN or WAN can be netted within an intranet.

This means that intranet operations can be specifically done by limiting access. Intranet network users can be limited according to the needs of the agency or organization.

Because it is more limited than the internet network, automatically every information and data in the intranet network will be more secure than the internet network

It can be ascertained that if there are parties outside the network who obtain information, it means that there has been a leak with internal parties.

The difference between intranet and internet is its speed and operational costs. Intranet networks can usually work faster, more effectively and efficiently.

Because it works in a wider scope, the cost of providing internet will be greater. However, it can also be slower due to the limited strength of the internet network in the region.

From the picture above about how intranet and internet are different, you can understand that these two network systems are needed in different contexts.

For access to information that is vast and complex, the internet is clearly needed. But in the interest of information effectiveness and confidentiality, an intranet is also a must.
