Laravel 12 is the latest version of the Laravel PHP framework that delivers quality improvements without major changes to the code. Suitable for upgrading applications safely and efficiently with minimal breaking changes.
Last February, the Laravel team released a number of updates, including the brand-new Laravel 12. Interestingly, this version introduces no new features at all—and that’s actually good news!

What is Laravel 12?
Laravel 12 is the latest release of the open-source Laravel framework, which has long been a mainstay in the development of modern web applications based on PHP. In this version, Laravel’s primary focus is on enhancing stability, performance optimization, and system refinement, without introducing large-scale new features or drastically changing the structure.
What’s New in Laravel 12?
As one of the most popular PHP frameworks, Laravel continues to evolve with every version, providing more powerful and efficient tools for developers to build reliable web applications. Laravel 12 stays true to this principle, even though it doesn’t deliver any new features. Instead, this release emphasizes stability improvements, performance optimizations, and a streamlined Laravel ecosystem, making it more robust and well-prepared to support long-term application development.

The full list includes over 80 changes, all of which are limited to:
- Minor enhancements
- Dependency version updates (such as Carbon, UUID, etc.)
- Small fixes
There are no significantly noticeable changes. Overall, this release feels more like a refinement and stability update rather than a feature-driven one.
So why is this “minor” release actually better?

A Quick Recap of New Features in Laravel 11
Let’s recall the list of new features introduced in Laravel 11:
- A more concise framework structure
- Separate installation for API
- New default settings: Pest and SQLite
- New commands such as make:enum and make:class
- Health monitoring page (/up)
- Minimum PHP support raised from 8.1 to 8.2
- And many more
Compared to Laravel 11, which brought numerous significant changes, Laravel 12 appears simpler. However, this simplicity is what makes it more stable and mature for long-term development.

Laravel Homepage Interface Update
Now comes with a New Homepage Interface. While this isn’t technically a new framework feature, it is still a notable change: Laravel now offers two new homepage designs.
In fact, it’s hard to capture the look in just one screenshot because the site is highly dynamic. As you scroll, elements move, shift, and create an experience that almost feels like a video game.

Additionally, after installing Laravel, you will also be greeted with a new default landing page.
This design is quite minimalistic and feels intentionally sparse. At the center of the page, you’ll find links to the documentation, Laracasts, and a button leading to Laravel Cloud.
Overall, the Laravel design team has done a great job with this update.
