Website is one of the media to display an institution’s self-image, so that its appearance and how other people can see us, need to be managed properly. This is one of Telkom University’s strategies in maintaining existence in cyberspace. Efforts to improve website content, make it easy to access, maintain consistency of quality content are things that need to be monitored and evaluated regularly. Telkom University through the Central Directorate of Information Technology holds a Telkom University Website Content Standardization Workshop which is routinely held twice a year.
Website Audit Purpose
The Telkom University Website Content Standardization Workshop 2022 was held on November 17 2022, and lasted for approximately 2 hours which was attended by all representatives of Telkom University website operators. The objectives of this workshop are:
- So that Telkom University’s Website Domain and Sub-domains can be on Page One of Google
- Help increase the growth of Telkom University domain website content so that it can be referenced naturally
- Traffic visits and backlinks have increased
- So that internet users can easily find Study Program information on Search Engines
Assessment Methodology
There are several focuses of discussion that are conveyed in this activity, namely things that need to be done by website operators on a regular basis, explanation of standard plugins and their functions, how to detect malware, the impact of malware attacks on websites, GTMetrix optimization, explanation of copywriting, benefits of copywriting, optimization On-Page SEO and Off-Page SEO. Based on the results of the website assessment conducted by the Information Technology Center Directorate of Telkom University, 7 categories of winners for the best website assessment have been determined with assessment indicators covering the overall total score as seen from:
- Content Standards & Completeness: this assessment is seen in terms of menu completeness and content per website page based on Telkom University website content regulation documents
- GTMetrix: this assessment is seen in terms of website speed performance based on the GTMetrix score and grade
- Pagespeed: this assessment is seen from the speed of the website built from the server side. Because the faster the website, the chances of being on the first page of Google are higher. the difference between the Pagespeed rating and the GTMetrix score is that in the Pagespeed assessment there is information on website speed performance on mobile and desktop devices.
- Pageviews: an assessment based on total engagement/traffic visits that lead to a website based on Google Analytics data
- Backlinks: an assessment based on the total number of live backlinks and subnet backlinks that point to a website based on data belonging to Ahrefs .
- Update: assessment regarding the last content update
- An additional assessment is in the form of the quality of website content
